Weekly Wins: January 24-31

Mother Nature clearly can’t make up her mind this week, but we aren’t complaining that the bitter cold has been kicked out of town by this warmfront.

In this edition of Weekly Wins, we’re helping you get outside and enjoy this not-quite-Winter and not-quite-Spring weather with different fun events and activities every day of the week.

Check out our list, and don’t forget to let us know what you’re up to this week by tagging your fun across the social world with #FrayLife so we can all discover cool new things to do!

Wednesday Jan 24th:

We’re feeling a bit hungry right now, so it’s no wonder that Churros & Beer: A guided pairing put on by Port City Brewing caught our eye.

And we can’t get enough stand up comedy… especially when it’s during the week and free (save your paid comedy bucks for the weekend). Laugh for free tonight at Town Tavern with a man named Jack.

Or lets get artsy AND political with Libertarian Lessons from Burning Man, hosted at the Cato Institute.

Otherwise maybe embrace #adulting by attending a free workshop on getting the job of your dreams (by Mission Collaborative).

Thursday Jan 25th:

There won’t be any wintertime sadness when Lana Del Rey comes to the Verizon Cen…we mean Capitol One Arena. (Unless of course you love her and miss the show!)

#FrayLife Tip: Know the sound, but not the name? Here is her 347 million viewed hit, Born to Die.

Friday Jan 26th:

There’s still time to check out Winter Restaurant Week and by time we mean 2 more days. It ends on the 28th and we couldn’t imagine not taking advantage of the cheap but still bougie grub while you still can.

Nothing lets out some end-of-week stress better than throwing Axes. Check out Bad Axe Throwing if you need a release.

#Fraylife Tip: Walk up is the cheapest option to throw some steel, but the lines can get long considering the 4.9 ranking these guys have on Google reviews. Show. Up. Early.

Saturday Jan 27th:

Get out of DC and avoid yet another Protest March with a trip over to the Torpedo Factory in Old Town to check out Suh Yongsuns in the New Project Studio – P.S. it’s free.

Or check out how public art is really made (hint: its a crap ton of work) by checking our our buddies over at No Kings as they work to get up a Mural at 241 18th St South in Crystal City. Word on the street is they should be there starting around noon.

Sunday Jan 28th:

Sunday is the kind of day you go to a show with cars you mostly can’t afford, but still want to touch, at the Washington Auto Show. They are getting pretty creative this year with some cool auto art installations.

Week one was pretty epic, so just a reminder that Free Weekly Bingo (with prizes!) at O’Sullivan’s just launched last week and is here to stay! Don’t get the #SundayFunday blues without football, come play (and win) for free. Trivia is hard, Bingo is fun.

Monday Jan 29th:

It’s time to step into a house, a house of God, and experience Seeing Deeper: Space, Light and Sound as the interior of the Washington National Cathedral is bathed in moving lights and sound. This is a one night event so… yea.. go.

#FrayLife Tip: Tickets are free but they will book out. Snag your tickets today.

Tuesday Jan 30th:

Tuesday is the kind of day to catch up at home on chores, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy some digitally social fun and join 1.6 million peeps in the latest trend… Check out HQ Trivia and their 9pm live trivia game.

Need to plan out a little farther? Check out our full month guide for January and watch out for the drop of our February list.
