Weekly Wins: January 17 – 23

The excitement of the holiday season has surely wore off by now but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some pretty keen events and happenings coming at you this week.

Just consider this our gift to help you get into a more normal groove of work // fun // work // fun // fun // work.

P.S. If you want the work portion of your groove to be a bit more fun too, we are hiring for lots of positions and looking for #FrayLife content contributors to boot. Game on.

Wednesday Jan 17th:

Valentine’s day is officially LESS than a month away. Don’t get caught off guard. Spend your afternoon making plans to be a regular DC Casanova by checking out our January Date Guide with ideas on how to stay warm, keep your resolutions AND have fun with your other half..

Thursday Jan 18th:

The world is crazy right now. We must be living in a Parallel Universe. Check out the opening of a new exhibit by Ouchhh with the same name at ARTECHOUSE

The Wharf is showing some love to the DC’s Country Music Fans (which is way more people than will actually admit it). Western Centuries manage to weave a whole two-step dance lesson in to their gig at Pearl Street Warehouse

#FrayLife Tip: The Wharf is overflowing with awesomeness. Check out our full Neighborhood Guide to get all of the details.

Friday Jan 19th:

Daybreaker, the global morning movement that inspires you to wake up and dance at ridiculously early hours with like-minded crazies (we mean that in a good way) returns to DC with their Daybreaker: New Year’s Resolutions

More boozey options are coming to Union Market with the Grand Opening of the Bruery – the team behind it hails from and is semi-famed in Cali so you know its going to be a sunny experience.

#FrayLife Tip: The shops not actually IN Union Market, but right around the corner.

Saturday Jan 20th:

Need some extra motivation? The Balance Gym Duo Cassia & Devin are hosting a FREE Balance Burn class to raise money to help the Children’s Tumor Foundation.  The best part? If they raise $200 in donations they will teach the class in their undies… for realz.

After the workout with eye candy check out DC’S Adult Winter Festival (no, not that kind of “adult”) at the 4th annual installment of the ICE YARDS. We heard there will be LIVE Ice Carvings… which is pretty chill.

Sunday Jan 21st:

Clarendon”ites” rejoice, Free Weekly Bingo (with prizes!) launches at O’Sullivan’s  – Trivia is hard, Bingo is fun – 358+ interested people agree.

Caps play the Philly Flyers so do your patriotic duty and cheer them on while playing Bingo at O’Sullivans… or travel to our friends at Iron Horse who pull a C-A-P-S crowd with their Home Ice Club to get into the full “spirit”.

#FrayLife Tip: Iron horse is a Bring Your Own Food kind of bar so hit up one of the sweet spots in Chinatown before you jam with the bouncer.

Tune in to OTHERFEELS broadcasting fresh tunes from the best rising music artists in the DMV out of their slot on The Line Hotel’s new Full Service Radio

Monday Jan 22nd:

Didn’t make it to your favorite restaurant in 2017 or working on a budget his year? Have no fear Winter Restaurant Week is here and starts today through the 28th.

#FrayLife Tip: Snag the brunch for $22 bucks to get the best deal at the hottest restaurants you’d normally have to sell a kidney for.

Curling & Cocktails totally goes together in a #FrayLife world. Check out what our neighbors to the north love so much about the game. It’s kind of like Bocce, but on ice and in the Olympics.

Tuesday Jan 23rd:

Dreamed of playing hockey but don’t have the bones for it? Check out the weekly Broomball at the Yards Ice Rink!

Need to plan further into the future? Check out our full month guide for January and watch out for the drop of our February list next week.

Need to plan further away from DC but not too far from DC? Check out our article on 6 Spots to Ski and be back for Dinner.
