Weekly Wins 3/14 – 3/20

Ready to plan your fun for the next 7 days? The week kicks off with Pi Day and ends with the first day of spring (what a time to be alive!).

In between, we’ve got virtual reality arcades, TJ Miller in Arlington, Shamrockfest, Hungry Human Hippos at Kettler Iceplex, and free bingo, PLUS a little thing called March Madness, and a whole lot more to look forward to.

Here are our favorite things to do in DC this week:

Wednesday, 3/14

– Celebrate Pi Day with Pizzeria Vetri and Flying Dog Brewery. The Crust & Craft Beer event costs just $25 per person and you get beer tastings, unlimited Irish inspired pizza, rotolos, and salad, and a demonstrations. Want more great pie options? Check out these places that prove DC pizza doesn’t suck.

– Want to spend your Hump Day sipping high end cocktails in an immersive gaming experience? Check out The Augment Arcade VR Experience to try out over 30 of the most cutting edge gaming experiences.

Thursday, 3/15

– For some reason Day 1 of March Madness still isn’t a national holiday, so hopefully you can take the afternoon off, or at least, stream the games at work. Make sure to catch as much of the action as you can before your bracket is busted by Thursday night!

– The Capitol Riverfront neighborhood is a rapidly growing riverfront destination that saw 18 new shops and restaurants open in 2017. Join the Capitol Riverfront BID at District Winery for the Capitol Riverfront Speaker Series: Retail in the Front, a celebration of the vibrant mix of retail and dining in the neighborhood.

– As part of the 50 year commemoration of the Vietnam War, Join members of the U.S. Army Center of Military History for The My Lai Massacre: History and Legacy, a panel discussion with leading historians and military legal experts to discuss the important legacy and lessons of the My Lai tragedy.

Friday, 3/16

Ever wanted to tour the Monuments without being surrounded by tons of tourists? You get the chance with the Spring Potomac Riverwalk from 10am-12pm. This is a free, guided tour and two mile walk that starts at the base of the Lincoln Monument.

– TJ Miller – best known from Silicon Valley, Deadpool, and Crashing – is bringing his well known comedy act to the Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse for the weekend. There are two shows each on Friday and Saturday and tickets are just $35.

Saturday, 3/17

Shamrock Fest is America’s largest St. Paddy’s Day Festival and it returns to RFK for the 19th year. Sum 41 and Shaggy head this year’s lineup and tickets start at just $34.99.

– Remember playing Hungry Hippos as a kid? Hungry Human Hippos on Ice is like that, but WAYY more fun. Grab your friends and compete for bragging rights (and prizes) in this adult take on a childhood favorite.

Sunday, 3/18

– You can see both the Wizards AND the Globetrotters play at Capital One Arena on Saturday, but on Sunday, hoops are out and Justin Timberlake is in as his ‘The Man of the Woods Tour’ comes to DC.

– Missing out on JT? Why not spend Sunday Funday in Shaw and check out the new Cherry Blossom Pop-up Bar.

Monday, 3/19

– It seems like every week is a restaurant week of some sort, and we’re ok with that as long as the food specials keep coming. Northern Virginia Restaurant Week hits town from 3/19 – 3/25.

– Don’t forget that DC Fray brings you FREE weekly bar bingo at Kingfisher each and every Monday from 8-10pm Same deal on Sundays at O’Sullivan’s. Visit dcfray.com/bingo to learn more.

Tuesday, 3/20

– The first day of spring can’t come quickly enough. Assuming the weather cooperates, get outside for some fresh air. If you want to take a hike, check out these lesser-known trails around DC.

– Speaking of spring, Tuesday, 3/30 is your last chance to sign up for spring social sports with DC Fray. Don’t get left on the sidelines, sign up before midnight to live your best life this spring.
