Weekly Wins 2/7 – 2/13

Love, national pride and the spirit of Bourbon Street are in the air as we head into week 2 of February.

The week kicks off with the arrival of the Olympics and ends on Fat Tuesday. In between we’ve got watch parties, Mardi Gras celebrations, underwear runs, free bingo, drinking and fitness events, more free bingo, and numerous V-Day activities.

Grab your American flag, a few thousand beads, your warmest pair of undies and your loved ones, and get ready to live your best life this week.

Wednesday, 2/7

– Unwind this #humpday with a night of yoga and art at The Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Luce Foundation Center for American Art. Relax while sipping tea and taking in the artwork, then stick around for a one-hour, all-levels Vinyasa class, led by Clare Kelley from Flow Yoga Center.

– If your idea of unwinding involves throwing back great beers, head over to Churchkey for a tap takeover by Perennial Artisan Ales. Known as one of the best breweries in the midwest, Perennial will be showcasing several of its most creative stouts beginning at 4pm.

– If you prefer to unwind with whiskey, our friends at Kingfisher have the first (of MANY) Whiskey Wednesdays tonight. Get $2 off all whiskey, all night every Wednesday from now until forever,

Thursday, 2/8

– Even though the opening ceremony isn’t until Friday, it’s still a no brainer to spend Thursday night watching the first night of Olympic competition. If you’re looking for a watch party at the bar, some of our favorite spots include Denizens Brewing, Wunder Garten (see below), and Dacha Beer Garden.

Friday, 2/9

– Our go-to spot to watch the Winter Games this year is definitely Wunder Garten, especially for the opening ceremony. Don’t miss the first of two “PeyonChangTHANG” parties this Friday, which will feature Gold Medal Prizes for individual/team best costumes, music by DJ Lehi, and Olympic-themed cocktails like the Triple Lutz, the Curling Sweeper and the Downhill Chaser.

Saturday 2/10

– Are you brave (or crazy enough) to run in your undies for a good cause? You get your chance on Saturday when Cupid’s Undie Run comes to Park at 14th St. The concept is simple. Run 1 mile through the cold in your undies, then enjoy a full afternoon of partying. Register here and save 20% off your ticket with promo code: DCFRAY

– As the world’s best athletes gather for the Winter Games, DC’s best partiers will be gathering to compete for bragging rights at DC Fray’s Winter Beer Olympics. The action goes down Saturday at Dirty Water from 3-8pm. Pick a country to rep in your best gear while you play games including Flip Cup, Pong, Dizzy Bat, and Quarters. Sign up here.

Sunday 2/11

– Whether you’re looking to impress your long time SO this Valentine’s Day, or you need the perfect activity for a group of your single girlfriends, the Champagne and Chocolate Truffle Making Date Night at DBDG Kitchen & Bar is a pre-V day event that’s as fun as it’s delicious. Learn to make chocolate truffles by hand while sipping champagne and enjoying chef-inspired sweet treats with your loved one (or fellow single friends). Tickets are just $39 each and you also get a take home gift and 10% off your bill if you dine at the restaurant.

– Football may be over, but #SundayFunday is not thanks to FREE bingo at O’Sullivan’s (hosted by DC Fray). It goes down each and every Sunday from 6-8pm and it’s free to play, but the prizes are real. Bingo is hard. Trivia is fun.

Monday, 2/12

– Speaking of FREE weekly bingo, you get another chance every Monday at Kingfisher. Same deal as above only from 8-10pm. Lean more about both bingo locations at dcfray.com/bingo.

– If you’ve ever watched Olympic curling and thought, “I could do that,” you can put your money where your mouth is at the Wharf on Monday. The popular Cocktails and Curling series has just been extended with new dates, so head over and play for free.

Tuesday, 2/13

– You wait around all year for an excuse to drink on a Tuesday, so you better make it count by hitting up DC’s best Mardi Gras celebration. The Union Markert Mardi Gras Extravaganza is your go-to spot this Fat Tuesday which. The action happens at Dock 5 and will feature 20+ of the DC area’s best Southern-inspired restaurants, top mixologists, bar and breweries and rotating bands.

Galentine’s Day at Dio Wine Bar is a night of friends, activities, snacks, and wine pairings. Celebrate with your girlfriends while you enjoy a dessert board, cookie decorating, wine flights, and great conversation.

– It’s never too soon to start thinking about warmer weather, so while you’re looking ahead to higher temps, take advantage of our Early Bird pricing and save money on spring social sports. Tuesday is the last day to get in at a discounted rate, so head to dcfray.com/leagues and sign up today!
