Wanna get your Groove on? These 6 Latin Dance Parties in the DMV will have you Dancing the Night Away!

The beauty of living in such a cultural hub is that there is always a chance to learn something new about another culture. The variety of food, music, and culture you can experience from across the world is endless.

The Latin community in the DC area is thriving- and along with that comes some completely awesome Latin dance opportunities. Learning some new moves can be intimidating, but there’s no shortage of groups to help ease you in to learning a new and totally fun way to spend an evening while making friends and burning calories all at once!

Ever wanted to twirl in heels or swing a lady around the dance floor? Check out this list of ongoing Latin dance opportunities that will totally push you to the edge of your comfort zone and impress your friends all at the same time.

Las Chicas Locas

Our first dance opportunity celebrated 9 years of parties this year. At Las Chicas Locas you can dance the night away with local DJ’s every Sunday night at 701 7th St NW (2nd floor). Tickets are typically $12, and in addition to drink specials, you can expect a 7:30 p.m. Salsa and 8:30 p.m. Bachata class to get you set up for a night of dancing. No partner necessary- you’ll be switching often in the spirit of making new friends! More info and ticket link are available at here.

Salsa with Silvia

Have a little Bachata experience? Ramp it up with monthly intermediate workshops. 3232 Georgia Avenue is home to Salsa With Silvia, and hosts a monthly workshop and dance party. It’s only $10 in advance and you are encouraged to BYOB. Light food is also served. Once the drinks start flowing and your legs start moving, this is bound to be a social event on your calendar every month.

Coco Cabana

Living out of the District doesn’t disqualify you from having a cultural night out. Coco Cabana, near Silver Spring, hosts Monday Night Argentine Tango. Tango is arguably the most exciting and sultry of the Latin dances, and you can learn all the moves any Monday night at 8 p.m. at Club Coco Cabana. Once you hit your stride, you’ll be ready for their Saturday night international parties.

Agua Friday

Agua Friday is a Cuban Dance event that takes place on a monthly basis at Songbyrd Cafe in Adams Morgan. And from this girl’s personal experience- it is an absolute blast! No experience is required, but be prepared to head to the dance floor with a friendly face. With rotating guest DJs, the music pumps until the early hours of the morning. Grab a drink, bring a friend, and enjoy a night among some of the city’s best Cuban Salsa dancers for just an $8 cover charge.

Lucky Strike

I’ll bet you didn’t know Lucky Strike in bustling Chinatown is for more than just bowling and games. Every Sunday night it transforms into a 21+ party for Salsa Sundays. (Be aware, there is an enforced dress code so break out your dancing shoes!) In addition to guest DJs and Salsa lessons, there are also prizes!
