Wind Down Your Summer and Start Fall Festival Season

 

 

As the crazy, humid heat of summer in the DC area winds down and we reach late summer and fall, that can only mean one thing….festival season!

 

  As the air starts to cool, what better way is there to spend a day than chilling with a few thousand of your closest friends and grabbing a bite, sipping a cool drink, or listening to some amazing tunes? Check out some of our recommendations for upcoming festivals in the area!

Old Town Beer Wine and Dog Festival 

August 17th

Head over to Alexandria for this brand new and exciting festival! Not only can you enjoy locally sourced craft beer and wine, but you can also hang out with some furry friends! Bring your dogs and let them run around the leash-less dog park while volunteers keep an eye on them. If you’re interested in adopting a new best friend, get ready to meet some of the adorable local sheltered and fostered dogs.  Proceeds from this event will support local Animal Welfare Leagues and fostering agencies. Rosslyn Jazz Fest

September 7th

Spend the evening at Gateway Park in Rosslyn for the 29th Annual Rosslyn Jazz Festival. This event is free and features some exciting groups like The Suffers and Grammy-nominates New Orleans brass band Cha Wa. Come hungry and grab some food from local food trucks as well as enjoy the pop-up beer and wine garden.  The Arlington Art Truck will also be making a stop at the festival where you can view its latest interactive installation. DC Wine Fest

Would you consider yourself to be a wine-o? If so, this is the festival for you! DC’s Wine Fest returns on September 14th at the National Union Building. Sip some samples from some of the best wineries in the world while enjoying some musical performances. (More Info Here)

Adams Morgan PorchFest 

October 5th

 

If you’re a fan of music, find your way to Adams Morgan for  PorchFest, a “grass-roots celebration of local musical talent”. Various front porches and patios of historical homes and businesses become the festival stages where a variety of music is performed – anything from jazz to rock! so be sure to mark your calendars for this free festival! 

 

NOVA Mac and Cheese Festival 

October 5th

If you prefer feasting on mac and cheese to porch hopping, check out this Mac and Cheese Festival. For as low as $20, you can get access to this event that features over THIRTY kinds of mac and cheese.  Wash it down with the craft beers, wines, and ciders they offer, and hang out to listen to the live entertainment.

All Things Go Fall Classic 

October 12-13

Some of the hottest emerging artists come together for an epic two-day festival in Union Market. Experience amazing local talent, a one-of-a-kind local food line-up, and more. This year will feature artists like CHVRCHES, Melanie Martinez, LANY, and more. You can grab a 1-day ticket for $65 or a 2-day for $99.  The VIP experience gets you access to the VIP lounge, complimentary food, front-of-stage viewing, and more.
