Weekly Wins: Things to Do in DC May 2 – 8

 

 

The activities never stop here in DC and the first week of May (say what!?) is no exception. From pop-up bars, to beer dinners, to patio openings, there’s much to look forward to in DC over the next seven days..

If you’re not a beer enthusiast, we’ve got a good mixture of culture and art to get everyone out of the house.

Here’s what we’re liking to do around DC this week:

Wednesday, May 2

– Enjoy an exhibition of cinema with the Washington Jewish Film Festival. Bring your friends and celebrate the diversity and culture of Jewish history. Film viewings will be set up all around the DMV area, plus you’ll get an opportunity to meet with filmmakers.

Thursday, May 3

– Hamilton fans! If you were unable to snag tickets to the award winning musical, there’s a cool alternative happening at Tudor Place! Enjoy drinks, appetizers, desserts while experiencing a mini-exhibit devoted to Hamilton and his legacy.

– Black Rooster Pub is closing its doors after 48 years in operation and they want to invite YOU. Their Last Stand event includes fare, drinks, and friendship so stop by for one last toast!

– The Caps dominated in DC in game 2, now they head to Pittsburgh with the series tied 1-1. Make sure you rock your red and head to your favorite sports bar to cheer them on.

Friday, May 4

– Didn’t get your royal wedding invite in the mail? Have no fear! Beginning May 4th, Drink Company has constructed a pop-up bar experience completely devoted to the royal wedding. You can even catch the viewing party for the wedding on May 19th!

– The Nats kickoff a weekend series against the Philadelphia Phillies with Max Scherzer bobblehead night. Make sure you’re one of the first 25,000 fans to arrive!

– Open every Friday in Arlington starting this weekend, Fridays at the Fountain features a fantastic selection of beer and wine from Crystal City Wine Shop. The event will also include live music from local bands and musicians along with delicious food from nearby restaurants.

Saturday, May 5

– Happy Cinco de Drinko!

– Experience one of the best brunch day parties in the DMV on Cinco de Mayo! RedRocks DC is hosting a #BeatsAndBrunch event complete with tequila specials and pinatas filled with surprises.

– Up for a show-stopping evening of dance? The CityDance DREAM Gala is a one-night-only production featuring performances by the world’s leading classical, contemporary, hip-hop and tap artists all on one stage. Discounted tickets are available using the code, “FRIEND”

– Calling all garden enthusiasts! Flower Mart is Washington’s premier outdoor family festival. Come enjoy great food, several garden tours, and make sure you take a ride on the antique carousel!

– With the Caps evening the series in game 2, game 5 at Capital One Arena should be one to remember.

Sunday, May 6

– For 10 days in May, experience larger-than-life murals at POW! WOW! DC. This curated group of artists from all around the world gather in DC to beautify, educate, and inspire the community through the power of art.

– Fish restaurant at MGM National Harbor is throwing a party to mark the official opening of their gorgeous patio. Experience the ultimate outdoor destination with live music, garden games, and more!

– Take your Sunday Funday game to a new level with karaoke and bottomless brunch at Dupont Italian Kitchen. This all inclusive event includes a wide variety of morning cocktails and delicious eats.

Monday, May 7

– World-renowned producer, Kygo, is coming to DC! For one night only, make your way to The Anthem and experience the chart-topping artist in person.

– Beat your Monday blues with FREE weekly bar bingo at Kingfisher (hosted by DC Fray). Play for free, enjoy drink specials and score sweet swag and other prizes. Learn more.

Tuesday, May 8

– Want in on summer social sports at the lowest possible price? Early Bird pricing for DC Fray leagues ends at midnight, so grab your friends and sign up before you have to pay full price.

– DC Brau is hosting a beer dinner and invites you to take a trip through all of the malty and hoppy flavors.  You’ll enjoy a welcome reception with delicious apps and a glass of brau pils before moving to a seated dinner featuring four brews and four courses from Executive Chef Stuart Ameter.

Brabo Tasting Room is opening its patio for the summer season. This popular spot is hosting five happy hours in the beginning of May to highlight their “bubbles” menu. The first 30 guests to arrive will sample complimentary cocktails from Lead Bartender Brett Oye and canapés from Executive Chef Sebastien Rondier.
