Weekly Wins: Things to Do in DC 6/6 – 6/12

 

 

With the Caps on the verge of capturing the Cup against Vegas, there’s plenty to be happy about as we enter a new week here in DC (aside from daydreams of a long overdue championship parade).

In an effort to keep that happiness streak alive, #FrayLife is here with the info on a wide variety of events going down in the district this week. Classy restaurant samplings, Pride events, and a few legendary performances from your favorite celebrities are just a taste of the fun and happy times to be had over the next 7 days.

Wednesday, June 6

– It’s time to leave your wallet at home and indulge in delicious food from 30 top DC restaurants in one night with Dine and Dash. Enjoy chef favorites throughout the city and help raise money for World Central Kitchen – Jose Andres’ charity!

– DC Brau is launching their limited edition beer to celebrate Pride week! Town Nightclub is hosting a “Pride Pils” Release Party and Yappy Hour. This event is also dog-friendly, so bring your pup and check out the new cans, designed by local artist Alden Leonard!

Thursday, June 7

– Beginning on June 7, Capital Pride kicks off an epic weekend celebration filled with rooftop pool parties, block parties, festivals, concerts, and of course the Pride parade. This year, the Pride Concert is headlined Alessia Cara, Troye Sivan, and MAX!

– One of DC’s most popular magazines, Washingtonian, is having their Best of Washington 2018 party at the National Building Museum. This highly anticipated event features samplings from 60 of Washingtonian’s 100 Very Best Restaurants and Best of Washington Survey Winners!  

– Game 5 could be the Stanley Cup clincher for the Caps, so make sure you grab a ticket starting at 1PM Wednesday and head to Capital One Arena for the viewing party!

Friday, June 8

– Let us take you out to the ballgame and take you out to the crowd to see the Nationals play the San Francisco Giants at Nationals Park. Join the DC Fray staff for pregame happy hour drink specials at Due South  (BOGO Coors Lights, anyone?) and then enjoy the game with us in group seating at the Scoreboard Pavilion, a prime location close to the field and the beer!

– Popular comedian and entertainer, Sandra Bernhard is coming to town to perform during Pride week! Bernhard brings a unique mix of cabaret, stand-up, rock-n-roll, and social commentary to the stage and will be featured in Washington Blade’s third annual Pride Comedy Show.

– The DC Jazz Festival brings in a large number of national and local jazz musicians. Venues include the Kennedy Center, Howard Theatre, as well as several intimate jazz clubs. Free performances and a stacked lineup are just two of many reasons you should check out this jazzy summer festival.

– Dacha Beer Garden is hosting their Sparkleberry PRIDE Silent Disco event with Bells Brewing and DC Fray. The silent disco is from 4-8pm and features Bell’s Brewing’s Sparkleberry Ale, a Belgian-Style Tripel brewed with raspberries!

Saturday, June 9

– Known as one of DC’s most anticipated summer events, the Kingman Island Bluegrass & Folk Festival is a day-long celebration nestled between the banks of the Anacostia River. Witness dozens of bands across multiple stages while enjoying delicious food, drinks, and activities for everyone.

– Comedian and actor, Martin Lawrence returns to the big stage to host 2018’s hottest comedy event, the Lit AF Tour at Capital One Arena. This event features an amazing lineup filled with comedic talent from DeRay Davis, to Jay Pharoah, to Deon Cole.

– Join DC Fray and Take Five Meditation to practice mindfulness on the exclusive and scenic rooftop at 880P. CAVA Bowls and wine (open bar!) will be served, and the peaceful night will finish with a talk from award-winning author of the best-selling cookbook, Go Clean, Sexy You, Lisa Ryan. Never meditated before? Come and learn what the hype is all about, newcomers welcome!

– Gearing up for the PRIDE parade? Dacha Beer Garden is hosting a PRIDE Pre-Parade Prep with Bells Brewing featuring a flash tattoo and face paint artist from 12-3PM, Dacha Pride tanks for sale and a Wigs and Waffles fundraiser for Whitman Walker. Once the PRIDE parade is over, Dacha will also be running a special on DC Brau’s PRIDE Pilsner cans!  

Sunday, June 10

Yoga in the Outfield returns to Nationals Park! All fans who purchase a ticket will receive a discounted game ticket to the Nats matchup against the San Francisco Giants, a Nationals-themed yoga mat, and will be invited to participate in a postgame yoga class in the outfield grass.  

Monday, June 11

– Legendary music duo Daryl Hall & John Oates come to Capital One Arena with special guest Train!

Tuesday, June 12

– Partake in an evening of culture as the smash hit, must-see musical, Hamilton, is back in DC for the summer at the Kennedy Center.

– No, you’re not dreaming. The Stanley Cup is FINALLY coming to DC. Catch Ovi, T.J. Oshie, Devante Smith-Pelly, and the rest of the Caps show off the greatest trophy in sports! The parade route will be from 17th Street to Seventh Street along Constitution Avenue NW, followed by a rally on the National Mall. Festivities kick off at 11am.
