Salt or No Salt?? Here’s Your DC Margarita Bucket List for Cinco de Mayo (or Anytime)

Happy Cinco de Drinko baby!! Here in DC we love a good excuse to drink, and Cinco de Mayo hits two birds with one stone because we get to drink AND eat in celebration. Tacos, fajitas, chips and queso…and who can forget the best thing of all: margaritas!

Break out your sombrero because we’ve got you covered with a #FrayLife margarita bucket list to help you conquer Cinco de Mayo like a pro.

Mission

With locations in Dupont and Navy Yard, Mission is a popping Mexican joint with yummy food, an outdoor patio and, more importantly, lots of tequila! Mission features a ton of margarita flavors such as the strawberry basil margarita, the pineapple jalapeno margarita, the dupont margarita and more.

#FrayLifeTip: You can never go wrong with the house, or Mission, margarita that is served on tap and made fresh daily.

El Rey

This taco and tequila favorite is fashioned out of old shipping containers. How cool it that?! The place is set with an outdoor patio and a classic margarita that will definitely hit the spot.

Oyamel Cocina Mexicana

I’ll take a pitcher, please! This Penn Quarter gem has all sorts of margaritas that come by the glass or the pitcher if you and your friends are feeling a full send.

#FrayLife Tip: Why not make it a brunch? Oyamel has a large brunch menu filled with pretty much anything you can think of when you think Mexican. It really doesn’t get much better than that!

El Bebe

Summer is getting closer, so why not beat the heat with a frozen margarita? El Bebe in Navy Yard is the perfect spot for a margarita outing for any and all taste buds. It has options ranging from frozen, jalapeno, blackberry and more, so there really is something for everyone.

Cortez

We love some good rooftop bars here in DC, and Cortez in Shaw is no exception. This tequila bar will have you feeling yourself with happy hour Wednesday to Friday from 5-7 p.m. and $5 tacos all the time! It might not have the most extensive list of margaritas, but the outdoor atmosphere is definitely worth it.

Everyone knows you can’t enjoy a margarita without good food to go with it, so check out these Mexican restaurants that serve up authentic food that won’t disappoint.
