Celebrate the Royal Wedding DC Popup Style

Feeling left out because your invite to the Royal Wedding got lost in the mail? Miss out on your chance to grab tickets to our Royal Wedding Rooftop Screening Party before they sold out?

Fret not. Thanks to Drink Company and their latest popup, you still have the chance to celebrate this weekend’s biggest event like royalty.

We got a hint during the Cherry Blossom Pop-Up that another themed bar was making its way to the city sooner than later, and the Royal PUB delivered. The Royal PUB only occupies the front portion of the bar, so it’s about half the size of the Cherry Blossom PUB, creating a much more intimate experience.

With Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tying the knot this weekend and smaller quarters to drink like royalty, expect longer lines than usual. But once you get inside, the interior of the bar is modeled after the St. George’s Cathedral in London and the walls are covered in white florals, green foliage, and stain glass “windows”.

You can even hang with life-size cutouts of the royal family while taking your place on the throne in the Buckingham Palace room, which is complete with a British royal corgi you can pet. (Sorry, these aren’t real dogs, picture props only.)

As expected, the drinks served at the Royal PUB are all worthy of sipping with your pinkies up. Most cocktails are priced between $13-$14 with an option to order a wedding cake shot for £3.70 or five American bucks.

“God Save The Queen” is a gin-based favorite that’s accompanied with a crown to wear.

“Captain Harry” is served in a commemorative mug with a photograph of the soon-to-be newlyweds.

And if you’re really in the celebratory mood, order “Put A Ring On It,” a champagne cocktail that comes with an actual ring stuffed inside a cucumber.

If you’re bloody crushed you didn’t make the guest list, be sure to personally write Prince Harry and Meghan Markle a congratulations card that will be delivered to Kensington Palace. The British Embassy here in the district did their part to make the Royal PUB a success and will serve as your international mail carrier to deliver your well wishes (the embassy also donated the Beefeaters statue that guards the restrooms).
