Find Love at These 5 Amazing Places for a 2nd Date in DC

We’re constantly inundated with tips about how to act on a first date. What to wear, where to go, how to know if this person is the “one.” The list goes on, and so does the pressure. Well folks, I’m here to let you in on a secret…. the magic lies in the second date.

If you think about it, it’s relatively easy to ace a first date. Small talk can last long because you are just getting to know each other. You can cover the easy bases: hobbies, job, education, etc. You know, the shallow stuff.

Crunch time comes when they had a decent enough time the first go around and are ready to try it again to make sure they’re into it. This is it- the money shot. A second date is where you have a chance to make a good thing great.

Don’t fret, I’m here to tell you exactly where to go in DC on a second date. You’re welcome.

Eastern Market

As the weather continues to get nicer, Eastern Market gets lovelier! Grab your new bae and head to this open market that has been gracing DC with its presence since 1873. Each weekend 7th street gets blocked off and turns into a popping flea market featuring art, produce and vendors from around the DMV area. Hungry? Head inside and choose from dozens of options (I recommend the fried green tomatoes at Market Lunch), or stay outside and snack on fresh produce from local farmers. It’s small enough that you won’t feel overwhelmed, but large enough that you will constantly have something to look at, explore or talk about. And hey, if it’s going well and you want the date to continue on, you are only steps away from Barracks Row, which features some of DC’s best restaurants and bars.

#FrayLife Tip: Eastern Market and the flea market is best in the early afternoon on a Saturday!

The Miracle Theatre

Are you looking to woo someone who hates “touristy” things? Want to impress them with something unique and quaint, but still want to keep it casual because you also want to show that you’re ~chill~? Miracle Theatre is the place for you! This small and historic theatre has unique showings each weekend. From blockbuster films, to independent film festivals and slam poetry, this theatre does it all. And best of all? The popcorn and snacks won’t break the bank. Check out their website for current showings and upcoming calendar events.

The Monument Walk

So you read number 2 and moved past because you’re looking to impress someone who just moved to the area and LOVES touristy things! You cannot go wrong with the OG monument tour. Starting at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial you can follow a path that brings you to the lesser featured monuments like the FDR memorial and MLK memorial. In my opinion, these are the better ones, and offer a quieter path so you can be sure to get in those amazing conversations you’ve been looking for. Eventually, you will end up on the Mall where you can end with some people watching or with hitting the food trucks nearby. Not a fan of walking? Find a bird or lime and scooter to double your speed!

Pizzeria Paradiso

What seems like a normal pizza place on the outside is a hidden DC gem. Pizzeria Paradiso’s Georgetown location has a basement where there’s an intimate bar space filled with skeeball, arcade games, shuffleboard and a juke box. With great happy hour deals and unique drinks on tap that rotate constantly, this is a great place to loosen up by playing some games and tasting new beers. Awkward pause in conversation? Head to the skeeball machine and challenge your date to the best of 3. At $1 per game, you can compete for a best score or try to beat the week’s high score for a free beer.

Monday Night Bingo

Want to go to a bar, but worried it may be too typical or boring? Head to Kingfisher on Monday nights at 8 p.m. for FREE bingo! DC Fray hosts free bingo each Monday night, and prizes include free drinks, tee shirts and other fun swag. Get competitive with your date and joke around while playing the world’s easiest game. Each Monday night is filled with fellow bingo players and chatty hosts who are sure to provide your date with witty banter and great conversation.

#FrayLife Tip: Get there a little early to get a table or spot at the bar. It fills up!

And with that; you are bound for a third date! Happy dating 🙂
