Weekly Wins: Things to Do in DC May 16 – 22

 

 

 

Remember when May started like 5 minutes ago?

It’s flying by faster than the Caps got out to a 2-0 series lead vs Tampa, but we’re here all month long to help you get out and explore DC like a local tourist. Thankfully, our job is pretty easy this week because there’s a plethora of outdoor activities to keep you busy as we roll into the second half of the month.

Wednesday, May 16th

– Join Mangia DC Food Tours for the Italian Food Tour in Dupont Circle as you taste Italian culinary gems on foot, guided by local experts. Be sure to come hungry as the portions add up to a full meal! 

Thursday, May 17th

– Celebrate an international culinary showcase with the Events DC Embassy Chef Challenge – 10th Anniversary! Taste dishes crafted by world-renowned chefs as they compete for global bragging rights. This event also features a sampling of exotic cocktails, live music, and entertainers from a wide variety of cultures.

– The Capitals are one step closer to competing in the Stanley Cup finals. Come cheer on the Caps at Capital One Arena in a potential series-clinching game 4!

Friday, May 18th

– Turn your ordinary Friday commute into a fun, healthy morning of exercise with Bike to Work Day 2018! Be one of the first 20,000 to register, attend the event, then bike to your choice of 100 pit stops where there will free T-shirts, refreshments, and even a raffle for a chance to win a new bike.

– Go back in time and celebrate the history of wine with the Spring Wine Festival and Sunset Tour. The event features exclusive evening tours of George Washington’s historic Mount Vernon estate. So bring a blanket, soak in the breathtaking views, and sample the finest Virginia wines.

– Take in a ballgame the right way with DC Fray’s Nats Night Out. Join us for pregame happy hour drink specials at Due South where you will pick up tickets from the DC Fray Event Squad and then enjoy the game with us in group seating at the Scoreboard Pavilion, a prime location close to the field and the beer!

– Known as one of the most popular restaurants to open by the DC Wharf, La Vie is launching its 12th floor terrace with a giant welcoming bash! Happy hour drink specials will be served and a DJ will keep the party going well into the night.

Saturday, May 19th

 

– Ready for another unforgettable DC Fray event unlike any other? Our Sunset Zipline & Bonfire extravaganza is back! Escape the city for a night and join us for an epic zipline adventure. The festivities include zipline course overlooking the Potomac River, a catered BBQ, a bonfire (complete with s’mores), and all of the beer and wine you could want. What else could you want for an adventurous Saturday night out? The best part is if you can’t make this one, there’s another on the 26th!

– Indulge in a free summer long concert series with Jazz in the Garden. Taking place in the Sculpture Garden on the grounds of the National Gallery of Art, you can enjoy a variety of Traditional New Orleans jazz, blues, swing, and more.

– May 19th is also known as the only day you can adventure around DC by bike with no cars getting in your way. With the DC Bike Ride, you have the opportunity to join a community of cycling enthusiasts and pedal your way past monuments and memorials all for a great cause!

Tuesday, May 22

– Class up your Tuesday night with the Veneto Wine Dinner at Via Umbria. This unforgettable dining experience features the winemakers from Remo Farina Winery and delicious menu choices such as casunsei pasta and a peppercorn crusted lamb loin.
