From scavenger hunts to wine tastings #FrayLife highlights some of the most fun spring events that give back to animal rescues. Get outside and enjoy the arrival of spring with your pet! Both dog AND cat enthusiasts have a busy season ahead of them with all of the following pet-friendly events the DMV has to offer.
Sunday, March 31
Join Rural Dog Rescue for a scavenger hunt, raffle, drink specials, and cherry blossom photoshoot in southeast D.C. After the 1-3 mile scavenger hunt say hello to RDR’s adoptable dogs at The Brig. Have a drink or a bite and grab a doggie swag bag from Howl to the Chief and DogMa. Purchase tickets here.
Saturday, March 30
Come out and support Lucky Dog Animal Rescue at their annual Wags & Wine event at the nation’s most dog-friendly vineyard, Barrel Oak Winery. A ticket includes a glass of wine or beer, raffle ticket, silent auction, live music, and swing dance lessons. Dogs welcome!
Thursdays, April 4 – August 1
Pups on the Patio returns every Thursday starting April 4 at Silver New American Brasserie in Cathedral Heights. Enjoy cocktails for a cause with your four-legged friend. Be sure to mention “Pups on the Patio” and 10% of your bill will be donated to Humane Rescue Alliance. Purchase a Tito’s Handmade Vodka happy hour cocktail and $1 will be donated to HRA.
Take your dog out to the ball game! Pups in the Park returns starting March 31 and continues through the Nats baseball season. 100% of your dog’s ticket goes to the Humane Rescue Alliance.
Saturday, April 14
Ever heard of goat yoga? Well, kitten yoga exactly what you think it is. Cuddle, stretch, and pose with kitties at the Humane Rescue Alliance for a yoga class like none other! Sweet kittens, some available for adoption, will have the run of the room while participants enjoy a gentle yoga class.
Session 1 from 3-4 PM and session 2 is from 4:15 -5:15 PM.

Transform your furbabies into works of art at We the Dogs Paint Your Pet Night at Muse Paint Bar in Fairfax. Get creative, sip some wine, and have fun while raising money for a great cause! Space is limited so be sure to register early here.

There are plenty of spring events for dog lovers out there, but what about cat enthusiasts, you ask? Meow DC is the Washington, DC area’s first large-scale event which will provide cat people (and animal lovers alike) an outlet to demonstrate and embrace their love for cats. This all-day event will be at Dock 5 at Union Market. Purr-chase your ticket here.
