6 Sweat and Sip Yoga Events to Solve the Gym vs Happy Hour Dilemma
With spring kind of, sort of almost here, a lot of us are torn between hitting the bar after work for outside happy hour and hitting the gym to get that beach body ready for summer.
This decision is a tough one. Luckily, for those of us that don’t want to choose between fitness and fun, some local yoga studios are catching on and there is an ever growing list of ‘sweat and sip’ events popping up all over town. These events are an ideal way to get your workout in before promptly being rewarded with a cold cocktail.
Whether you round up your brunch group and mix things up one weekend, or you’re going alone to meet some beer loving yogis, these events are the perfect remedy to ongoing gym vs happy hour dilemma.
Here are 6 sweat and sip yoga events coming to the area over the next few months that you don’t want to miss:
1. Yoga + Wine Wednesdays @ Soapstone Market
Wednesday, April 25th, 6pm-7pm (+ every Wednesday night)
Round up some girlfriends and treat yourselves. Yoga + Wine Wednesday is the perfect combination to help you destress mid week. For $20 you get to practice an hour long flow and are handed a glass of wine right after to enjoy with your classmates. This happens every Wednesday. Cue the recurring calendar invite.
2. Beerasana at DC Brau Brewing Company
Sunday, April 29th, 12pm-1pm (+ the last Sunday of every month)
Nothing says you’re ready for summer like a cold beer and some downward dog. Beth A Wolfe Yoga holds a class at the DC Brau on the last Sunday of every month. After your practice you have a cold pint waiting for you in the tasting room. It is only $15 for the class and the beer, just make sure to BYO mat!
3. Cinco De Mayo Yoga Flow, Tour, And Cocktail at One Eight Distilling
Saturday, May 5th, 12pm-2pm
What better way to start off a tequila fueled day than with a little sweat? Join Om Shanti DC Yoga for a 60 minute Vinyasa flow and meditation. Once you complete the class you will have the opportunity to tour One Eight Distilling and enjoy a cocktail with your fellow yogis. Space is limited so make sure to grab your ticket. If you purchase early enough you can get the early bird special for only $22. Score.
4. $10 Brunch Yoga at the Pub
Sunday, May 6th, 9am-10:30am
If this isn’t the perfect way to cure your Cinco De Mayo hangover, then we don’t know what is….. Crystal City Sports Pub is playing host to Eat. Yoga. Drink. where attendees can get their blood flowing and rehydrate with a mimosa, or two…. Round up your brunch crew and mix it up from your usual spot. If you are new to the area and area looking to meet some locals this is a great way to chat with people who like the same things you do. How can you not bond over yoga and brunch?
5. Doodlebug Puppy Yoga
Wednesday, May 9th, 6pm-6:45pm
If you’re looking for an overdose of cuteness and a fast track to de-stressing your Wednesday night, we highly recommend this yoga class where you are actually surrounded by puppies during your practice. All puppies are provided by Homeward Trails Animal Rescue so a portion of the proceeds go to them. Class will last 30 minutes, leaving you with 15 minutes to play and cuddle with the pups. Come prepared to smile until your face hurts and potentially even leave with a new family member. Don’t say we didn’t warn you…..
6. Beer Yoga (Cheers & Namaste)
Saturday, May 12th, 12pm-1pm
If you’re anything like us, having a flight of beer waiting for at the end of a workout is some serious motivation. Right Proper Brewing Company is doing it right! Join them at the Production House for an hour long flow followed by a three beer flight. This class is for all levels of yogis so whether this is one of your first times on the mat or you are a pro, come one come all.
