Eat Your Way Around the World at the Embassy Chef Challenge

Want to take your tastebuds on a global food and drink journey without leaving the city?

Passport DC is an entire month dedicated to celebrating unique heritages and cultures. One of the marquee events is the Events DC Embassy Chef Challenge, and it’s coming back next Thursday, May 17, to celebrate the 10th annual event!

This culinary and cultural extravaganza provides you with a unique opportunity to taste 30+ authentic dishes and drinks from around the world prepared by embassy chefs who routinely cook for the most high profile dignitaries. Attendees must try everything because you vote for the People’s Choice award, while a distinguished panel selects the Judge’s Choice winners. Embassies are also competing for the Pepsi Best Beverage award, so, you know the drinks (cocktails, wine, beer, coffee, tea) will be flowing!

For the price of admission, ticket buyers receive all-you-can-eat and drink from each nation and a diverse offering of cultural performances that will leave you full, buzzed and astonished. Bring an empty stomach, an open mind, and your dancing shoes to the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center to eat, drink and dance your way around the globe.

Regardless of where you’re from, the Challenge is an awesome opportunity to meet new people and expose yourself to new sensory experiences.

Details are being released daily, so check out the official site for up-to-the-minute info and use the promo code “DCFray” to save 10% on VIP and general admission tickets. Here are the latest details you need to know:

Food

This uniquely DC event is the only time where you’ll find three-dozen world-class embassy chefs all in one location competing for culinary bragging rights – and the chance to enjoy signature dishes from their home countries.

Experience worldly flavors from ethnic creations like Chilean salmon duo, Iraqi kibbeh over lamb, Jamaican jerk chicken, and Filipino grilled pork (just to name a few).

Widely recognized chefs and food experts will be on hand to help decide the winners of the cooking competition, but the world-class food is just the beginning.

Drinks

Beverages from all regions of the globe will be on tap as well. From cocktails, to coffee, to wine, and spirits, you’re guaranteed to find a drink you enjoy when you’re taking a breather from eating all of the delicious foods. Canadian craft beers, Slovakan vodka, Moldovan wine and even a cocktail from Liechtenstein, you will taste drinks from places you haven’t even thought about visiting before this event.

Dance & Music

Another important component of the event is the authentic and eclectic entertainment. Diverse groups of dancers coming from various African, Latin American, and Asian countries as well as the Caribbean will take the stage throughout the evening.  And global music is also a must. Continuing with cultural diversity theme, the band City of the Sun will be returning as the feature artist. There will also be rising solo artists, DJs, and other popular local bands.

After Party

Once you’ve completed your culinary journey, stick around and mingle (and drink) with the chefs and your new friends at the after party. There will be more music, dancing and open bar, and is free with your event ticket.

The best part about the Embassy Chef Challenge (other than the food, drink and music)? One ticket gets you full access everything the event has to offer. We’re talking samples of each country’s food, drinks, hours of entertainment and the after party for one price.
