Craving Avocado? Discover Delicious Avocado Toast in Every DC Neighborhood

Let’s talk about one of the biggest food trends that makes up some of the most insta-worthy pics on your feed — avocado toast, a breakfast, lunch and dinner staple that is popping up in spots all over D.C. Here’s our guide to the best places to grab avocado toast by neighborhood that is sure to be everything you avo wanted.

Shaw

Slipstream

1333 14th St. N.W. Washington, D.C.

With bread baked in-house every day, their fresh sliced bread topped with avocado, goat cheese mousse, pickled shallot, and alfalfa sprouts isn’t something you should be second guessing. Need a little more? The best part is they offer add-ons such as poached eggs, bacon, smoked salmon or even more avocado to make your toast even more delectable.

West End

Bluestone Lane

1100 23rd St NW, Washington, DC 20037

D.C. is starting to get more and more all-day cafes popping up around the city, one of them being Bluestone Lane. Their Avocado Smash is smashingly scrumptious. Chopped extra chunky, the avocados are spread on a crisply toasted multigrain bread topped with heirloom cherry tomatoes, feta and even a poached egg if you choose.

Georgetown

South Block

3210 Grace St NW, Washington, DC 20007

South Block might be known for their açaí bowls, but that’s until you discover their toasty side. Keeping it simple with solo servings, South Block tops theirs with chili flakes, hemp seeds and sea salt, plus an olive oil drizzle to finish it off.

Wharf

Toastique

764 Maine Avenue Southwest

Classics with a twist — Toastique takes those typical sandwiches, smoothies and bowls to the next level. Their gourmet multigrain toast begins with an avocado base topped with layers of marinated tomatoes, watermelon radish, microgreens, toasty seasoning and chili oil. Talk about next level toast.

City Center

Fruitive

1094 Palmer Alley NW, Washington, DC 20001

Although it is more commonly known in the district as a hip juice spot, Fruitive has more to offer than juice. Toast is one of those options. Their savory avocado herb toast is something that will have your mouth watering. Basil pesto mayo topped with sliced avocado, sea salt and black pepper all on a toasted piece of flax and spelt bread. You’ll find yourself savoring every last bite.

Logan Circle

Cork Wine Bar & Market

1805 14th St NW, Washington, DC 20009

Cork may be a chic wine bar on 14th St., but wine may not be their only claim to fame. Avocado toast at Cork is a small plate specialty. Grilled bread topped with avocado, pistachios, pistachio oil and sea salt will leave you just enough room to top it off with a glass of wine (or two).

Dupont Circle

Le Pain Quotidien

2000 P St NW, Washington, DC 20036

With 11 different locations around the DMV you’ll be able to snag a slice no matter where you are, but the LPQ in DuPont may be my favorite spot of them all. There’s something about the full windows and corner spot that makes indulging in their avocado tartine just that much better. LPQ’s organic whole wheat bread is toasted til the edges are crispy but the inside is doughy — the perfect bread combo. This toasty tartine is topped with avocado, citrus-cumin salt, chia seeds and olive oil. YUM.

If avocados just aren’t your thing, check out these delicious bagel shops across the DMV that are sure to leave you dreaming of carbs for days.
