Wednesday, January 16

Channel your inner artist at “January Watercolor and Cocktails,” with cookbook author and artist, Marcella Kriebel. You will enjoy a cocktail made by Buffalo and Bergen while learning watercolor techniques, and have the opportunity to paint a line art illustration of a cocktail by mixologist, Gina Chersevani. You will also learn how to make the drink at home! The class begins at 6:30 p.m. at Union Market. Tickets are $55.

As part of Washington After Work’s series, a free performance will take place at the Kennedy Center. Lukas Somer, one of the most prominent young composers today, will play at 5:30 p.m.

We all remember the hilarious and popular movie, “School of Rock” with Jack Black. National Theatre will bring the comedy film to life on stage, performing all the original songs from the movie, plus 14 new songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $99.

Thursday, January 17

Superstar DJ, Diplo will be in Washington Thursday night at 9 p.m. The show is at Echostage. Tickets are $50.

Enjoy a delicious 5 star meal made for you by celebrity chef, Carla Hall. Hall is co-host of ABC’s show, “The Chew” and author of, “Carla Hall’s Soul Food.” The five course dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m., at The Fourth Estate Restaurant, and will feature 14 recipes from her book. Tickets are $95.

Fair Winds Brewery in Lorton, Virginia will pair up with Live Oak Restaurant for a beer and cheese pairing at 6 p.m. Tickets are $30 and include a free pint, treat, and samplers of 5 different cheeses and brews.

Friday, January 18

Brunch for dinner is always good…but so is brunch at midnight! Po Boy Jim will host a New Orleans style brunch event with good music, and delicious eats. The event will begin at 10 a.m. and last until 3 a.m. Register here.

Explore, learn, create, and shop at the Old Town Alexandria Makers Mile. There will be various art “make and take” stations from paper and paint, to fabric and yarn, where you will be able to learn artistic skills, create your own masterpiece, and take it home! Tickets are $30.

The first Daylight Winter Wine Fest will be hosted by City Winery DC from 8 – 10 p.m. Your $20 ticket will include a flight of four different wines, and admission to The Daylight Afterparty, lasting until 2 a.m. to give you a party all night long!

Saturday, January 19

Need a pick me up after a long night out on Friday? The Society Restaurant & Lounge can help you out with their, “Soca For Breakfast Dream Weekend + Winter Edition” event from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Breakfast will be served during the first two hours, and the party is during the last four! Tickets are $25.

Take a journey through the history of food with culinary historian and author. CiCi Williamson, at Texas Jack’s Barbeque in Arlington, Virginia. You will learn all about how different ethnic cuisines came about, plus enjoy a buffet style meal with mouthwatering options like sliced beef brisket, smoked bone-in chicken breasts, sweet baked beans, and banana pudding. The event begins at 12 p.m., and tickets are $39.

Party it up MLK Weekend at Ozio Rooftop Lounge’s Saturday Day Party! There will be an awesome lineup of DJs, great drinks, and solid fun! The party starts at 5 p.m. Tickets are $25.

Sunday, January 20

Panic! At The Disco will rock out at the Capital One Arena Sunday night at 7 p.m. The lowest priced tickets are $160.20 each.

Listen to the best hip hop hits from the last 40 years at The Old School Hip Hop Bar Crawl through U Street. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy will be honored at the 38th Annual MLK Parade. After the parade there will be a community fair at the Gateway Pavilion. The parade begins at 11:30 a.m. and admission is free.

Going to a Wizards game on MLK Day is a DC tradition. They’ll take on the Detroit Pistons at 2 p.m. and fight for that Eastern Conference playoff spot! Lowest priced tickets are only $10 right now.

Tuesday, January, 22

Learn how to whip up flavorful pasta and desserts at Via Umbria’s cooking class. You will learn how to make Pappardelle with Umbrian Sausage Ragu and Zabaglione with Winter fruits. And of course, you get to eat your creations and sip on beer, wine, or bottomless prosecco! The class begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $66.

If you’re a Star Wars fan, you must not miss out on the chance to watch Return of the Jedi while The National Symphony Orchestra performs right in front of your eyes. The screening will take place at The Kennedy Center at 7 p.m.
