Weekly Wins: Things to Do in DC 3/28 – 4/3
Once in a Blue Moon you get the chance to experience the Cherry Blossoms – by land, water, and digitally – plus a Japanese film festival, Easter, and a whole lot more all in the same week.
This is one of those times.
Here’s what we’re looking forward to this week as March leaves town and April rolls in:
Wednesday, 3/28
– There’s this thing call the National Cherry Blossom Festival that you may have heard of. Unfortunately, the trees don’t last forever, so if you’re planning to attend and haven’t, this week is your chance.
#FrayLife Tip: Want some non-touristy ways to experience the iconic trees? We’ve got you covered.
– Every week at The W Hotel it’s BYOV Wednesday. DJ 2-Tone Jones will be on the 1’s ans 2’s, but you can bring your own record to add to the set. Features champagne specials all night.
Thursday, 3/29
– Ready to celebrate L’Apéro Happy Hour’s 5 Year Anniversary at Fig and Olive? This weekend warm up features $9 Specialty Cocktails, $8 House Mixed Cocktails, $7 beer and wine ranging from $7-$9.
– Since 3/20, CineMatsuri (Washington DC’s Japanese Film Festival) has been screening awesome flicks at Landmark’s E Street Cinema. Tonight’s film is Love and Goodbye and Hawaii and tickets are $15.
– Mari Andrew is a writer, illustrator, and Instagram sensation. She’ll be at Sixth & I for Am I There Yet: The Loop-de-Loop, Zig-Zagging Journey to Adulthood, where she’ll be showing off her signature illustrations and essays from 7-8pm.
– Thursday nights change forever starting this week. We’re taking over Ultrabar for a weekly Thursday night social sports after party extravaganza. Will you be there when the legend of #FrayLife Thursdays @ Ultrabar begins.
Friday, 3/30
– Wrap up Lent the right way… with the Good Friday Fish Fry at Metropolitan A.M.E. Church. Dinner platters with sides cost $12 and sandwiches are $10.
– Hit up Sakura Yume’s Cherry Blossom Dream at Artechouse for an immersive, interactive Cherry Blossom experience like no other.
Saturday, 3/31
– At Block Print Your Neighborhood Block you’ll learn how to create your own block print from D.C. artist Rose Jaffe. This is your chance to create a unique symbol for your neighborhood or town through a process of sketching, cutting your block, and creating prints.
– If you’ve ever told yourself you’ll run a 5K once in a blue moon, this is your chance. Enjoy a moonlit brisk 5K course through collections and meadows. Stay until the end for a full moon celebration with food, drink, music, and fun!
– Rather walk than run? Check out the Saturday Night Full Moon/Blue Moon Walk at the National Mall Monuments. Meet people – see places – learn things – have fun – with this famous full moon walk.
Sunday, 4/1
– Happy Easter! Spend time with your family (if possible), or treat yourself to an outdoor brunch (also if possible).
#FrayLife Tip: Need an awesome Easter brunch spot on an outside patio? Here are 6 you gotta try.
– Easter Sunday is also the first day of brunch season at Dacha Beer Garden! Doors open at 11am. Enjoy an amazing brunch menu, Easter Egg Hunt and contest for “Best Pastel Outfit.”

Tuesday, 4/3
– Cruise the Potomac River, enjoying the scenic cherry blossoms, and having a good lunch with great company. The Cherry Blossom Luncheon Cruise on the Odyssey starts with a bus trip to Charles Town, WV and ends back in DC. Tickets are $125 each.
– The arrival of farmers markets is a key sign that spring is finally showing up. One of our favorites is the Crystal City FreshFarm Market in Arlington, which takes place every Tuesday.
