8v8 SOCCER
Each team has a 5 minute grace period after its scheduled game time to field a minimum of six (6) players
and a maximum of eight (8), including two (2) females. Otherwise, the opposing team’s captain may either
decide to play, permit borrowed players or to take win by forfeit. Game clock will begin running during grace
period.
Game clock will start immediately before opening kickoff and ball must complete one forward rotation before
being touch by another player. Time will run non-stop for 25 minutes/half with one 5 minute intermission.
Ties will result in shootout. Each team is permitted one 1 minute time-out per half.
Final standings will be based on team record with top team per conference qualifying for championship
game, following playoff semi-finals.
Should any two teams have same record, following tie-breaking system will be employed: 1. Record in head-
to-head competition; 2. Points differential for season; 3. Coin toss.
Player trades must be approved by all players involved, by captains for both teams and by league
commissioner. Extra players may also be added to team roster during season. All such roster moves must
be completed by game 4.
Players must enter offensive zone by passing or dribbling with contact by feet or head while directing ball
past opponent’s goalkeeper without entering the "goal box" at any time. Opponent may block passes and/or
shots while gaining possession, but also must remain outside the "goal box". Substitutions may occur during
stoppages of play.
Important: This a non-contact adult recreational league, and each player is expected to be in control
of body and temper at all times, otherwise fouls will be strictly assessed, regardless of intent.
Charging, roughness, handball, dangerous play and slide tackling will result in one (1) direct kick per
infraction. Throw-ins will occur once the ball is outside either sideline. Both hands must contact the ball while
keeping both feet on the ground until release. Corner kicks will occur for the opposing team once the ball
crosses either endline and was last touched by a defender. Goal kicks will occur for the opposing team when
it crosses either endline and was last touched by an attacker.
Yellow cards will be issued for players who persistently infringe the Laws of the Game and/or are guilty of
dissent or unsportsmanlike conduct. Red cards will be issued for two (2) yellow cards issued to the same
player or serious foul play, violent conduct, foul language, or intentionally impeding a clear goal opportunity.
Said player will then be sent off for the remainder of the game with a new player being substituted after two
(2) minutes or once the opposing team scores. Failure to immediately vacate building will result in one game
suspension and team forfeit. Two (2) such game ejections and/or suspensions during season will result in
league ejection for offending player with forfeiture of all league fees.
Fighting will result in either: game ejection for all players involved and continuation of game, termination of
game with current score recorded as final, or termination of game with instigator’s team losing by forfeit, all
at referee’s discretion. Furthermore, league commissioner reserves right to permanently eject such players
from league with forfeiture of all league fees.
