7 Things To Do in DC Before Winter Ends
Sick of waiting for spring? The last few weeks of winter can drag on forever, but they don’t have to be totally boring! If you’re tired of waiting for warmer weather and are antsy to get out of the house, we feel you.
Luckily, you don’t wait for winter to end to get your fix of fun…check out these 7 things happening in DC before spring hits:
MELT Fondue Fest – March 6
Via Umbria @ 7-9 PM
In snowy/sleety/rainy weather, there’s nothing better than getting out of the cold and indulging in a little comfort food. Lucky for you, you can warm up with some hot, melted cheese at Via Umbria’s 4th annual MELT Fondue Fest! Spend your evening sampling beer, wine and four different gooey, melty cheeses in Georgetown. In addition to the tastings, your $40 ticket will also earn you 10% off all cheese purchases. The event runs from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
GLOW Snow Tubing – March 9
Kelly’s Irish Times @ 4:30 PM
Embrace the cold and hit the slopes on DC Fray’s latest late-night snow tubing adventure! Glow paint and glow sticks will be provided, so you’re sure to stand out as you’re racing down the mountain. The fun starts with a pregame at Kelly’s Irish Times at 4:30 pm, but don’t forget your flask; the party continues on the BYOB bus ride to Avalanche Express! For $69 you’ll get two hours on the slopes, a seat on the roundtrip bus, glow accessories, access to the awesome pregame and too much fun to handle.
Interactive Art Exhibition and Bar – March 10/20
ARTECHOUSE – Open Weekly
Not only do these limited-time ARTECHOUSE exhibits totally immerse you in the display, but they also connect to your phone for even more art not visible to the naked eye. The current exhibit, Everything in Existence, is only on display until March 10 so you better hurry to catch a glimpse. But if you’re already dreaming about Spring, the seasonal experience In Peak Bloom begins on March 20 and is perfect for you. Don’t forget your ID for access to the Augmented Reality bar! Tickets for this exhibit are $16.
Hungry Human Hippos – March 16
Medstar Iceplex @ 7:20 PM
Grab your friends and get on the ice, because your favorite childhood game just got upgraded! Hungry Human Hippos is just what it sounds like: an old board game revamped. Now YOU get to be the hippo. If your team collects the most balls during a round, you’ll have the chance to advance to the championships and compete for a grand prize. Costumes are (highly) encouraged and happy hour drink specials will be in full effect! It’s only $30 to get in on the action, beginning at 7:20 pm on a Saturday.
Lobby Bar Trivia Night – March 18
Lobby’s Bar @ 7:00 PM
If your bank account isn’t as excited about all of these events as you are, Lobby Bar’s Trivia Night is a clear choice. That’s because this event is free. That’s right, free! There is a full dinner and drink menu available to all trivia players, because everyone needs a little brain food. Bring your friends to compete as a team for a prize and title of “Crew of the month.” The doors open at 5:00 pm and the fun starts at 7:00 pm.
Speed Dating – March 20
Big Chief @ 7:00 PM
Winter can be tough without a special someone to cuddle up with. But don’t worry about downloading a new app, speed dating is back! For $25 you’ll get a nametag, a scorecard and a raffle ticket. Yes, the actual speed dating is a big part of the event, but it’s definitely not the whole thing. All attendees will have the chance to win raffle prizes, take advantage of happy hour specials and meet tons of interesting people.
Shamrock Fest – March 23
RFK Stadium @ 12 – 8 PM
Just because it’s cold out doesn’t mean you can’t party. There’s no doubt you’ll have an awesome time at America’s biggest St. Patrick’s Day festival. Jump between stages, hop on a carnival ride, check out the Irish vendors and of course, drink beer. There’s so much to do at the yearly event, you can’t miss out! Tickets start at $25 for access to the entire festival, which runs from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
On a scale from 10-10 how pumped are you for these fun events before winter ends? Which ones will you be hitting up with your friends? Hit us up on social when you’re out and about using #FrayLife #DCFray!
