SEC Fans! Cheer to Your Heart’s Content this College Football Season at the Best SEC Bars DC has to Offer
Saturdays down south are never dull. Football, beer, good food and company is all you need to make the most of a beautiful Saturday.
SEC football fans love to say their conference is the best in the country. And Alabama is indeed the current national champion, after defeating The University of Georgia, another SEC football team, in the College Football Playoff National Championship last January.
Even though the Washington D.C. area is not technically considered the South, there is actually a heavy presence of SEC fans, with many alumni from different southern schools living in the D.C. area.
We did some research to find out where the fans of some of the best SEC football teams flock to on game day.
Willie’s Brew & Que – 300 Tingey Street SE
The Crimson Tide will show up strong here on college football Saturdays. Willie’s is where Alabama fans gather to watch their reigning national champions play. This bar couldn’t be a better place for Alabama watch parties, because Willie’s also has a banging menu full of tasty “finger-licking BBQ,” and people from the south love good barbeque.
#FrayLifeTip: In addition to Willie’s regular menu, they have a game day menu that has items like smoked wings, nachos, chili, and buttermilk soaked tenders & tots.
Public Bar – 1214 18th Street NW B
If you’re a Dawgs fan, Public Bar is the place to be on Saturdays this fall. There will definitely be a lot of woofing to UGA fans’ pleasure, and rivals’ annoyance. UGA’s first watch party of the season will be held here at 2:30 p.m. as the Dawgs take on Austin Peay State. The main floor of the bar has 31 TV’s, making it a game-watching haven on the weekends.
#FrayLifeTip: Public Bar is a sports bar by day, and an upscale lounge by night. Stick around during the later hours for a fun nightlife scene.
Johnny Pistolas – 2333 18th St NW
Johnny Pistola’s is the official watch party site in D.C. for the Auburn Tigers. There will be game day food and drink specials for Tiger fans. Drinking a margarita while watching college football sounds pretty good to us. War Eagle!
#FrayLifeTip: Mister Days in Clarendon is also an official watch party location for the blue and orange, and they will have food and drink specials for Auburn fans during watch parties.
Lou’s City Bar – 1400 Irving St NW
Another flood of blue and orange will take over a D.C. bar on Saturdays, except this blue and orange is the Florida Gators. What Florida fan would want to miss a game here, when there are 24 beers on tap, 23 HD screens, and an outdoor patio? Lou’s serves up delicious game day foods like wings, nachos and burgers.
#FrayLifeTip: You have to love that on Saturday and Sunday, Lou’s runs a BOGO mimosas and bloodys special from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Rhodeside Grill – – 1836 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA 22201
If you’re an LSU Tigers fan, your people will be at Rhodeside Grill in Arlington, Virginia on Saturdays. Rhodeside Grill has 12 taps of local craft brews and a vast bottle and can menu. In addition, the restaurant has daily specials. The purple and gold will take on Miami Sunday, September 2, and the watch party is at 7:30 p.m. Geaux Tigers!

Penn Quarter Sports Tavern – 639 Indiana Avenue NW
Those who bleed red and blue flock to this sports tavern on Saturdays. The D.C. Ole Miss Alumni Chapter throws watch parties here for the biggest SEC matchups against their team. Penn Quarter is a great place to watch a football game with an outdoor cafe, outdoor patio, and two floors that have a full bar and many TV’s to watch the game, and we can’t forget about the game day drink specials. Hotty Toddy!

Blackfinn – 16120 I St. NW
Blackfinn is the official site where most Vols fans will be going to check out their Orange and White this CFB Season. With a full bar and an even better patio, this is the perfect location. This bar is one of the only Tennessee Vols bars outside of the Volunteer state which is an even better reason to come and check out on college gameday. On Rocky Top!

Penn Commons – 700 6th Street NW
During the CFB season, most local Bulldogs fans catch the game at Penn Commons. Located in the heart of DC near the Capital One Arena. This location is ideal for those looking to catch the game, paired with delicious tavern fare as well as a huge selection of American beers & spirits, it cannot be beaten. With leather sling chairs, generous bar seating and 12 large screens, this bar is the perfect place to watch the Bulldogs take down SEC foes! Go Dawgs!
