Do You Want Scary Good Fun This October? Hit Up DC’s Top Haunted Trails

It’s that time again…Spooky Season.

Part of the fun in October is partaking in the creepy festivities that come along with the lead up until Halloween.

While there are a plethora of Halloween themed events throughout the DMV like ghost tours, haunted houses, haunted hayrides, you name it – this article focuses on haunted trails.

Those who are the biggest thrill-seekers know walking down a dark trail with no idea what lies ahead, or behind you, provides the most intense excitement.

If you’re brave enough, venture to any of these haunted trails and attractions. We promise all of them will leave you spooked! Make sure to show us just how spooked by tagging #FrayLife #DCFray in your haunted trail fun this fall.

Field of Screams

4501 Olney Laytonsville Rd. Olney, MD 20832

Field of Screams is rated the #1 multi-haunt, and the best haunted house and scream park in the DMV. If you can handle the terror, this is the place to be during Spooktober. With two trails – the Haunted Trail, Trail of Terror (and two other terrifying attractions), there is plenty of scary fun to be had. The Trail of Terror is a 30-minute walk through a haunted forest with 13 small haunted houses. Be careful, zombies and other horrific creatures lurk through the woods…

#FrayLifeTip: Haunted Trail and Trail of Terror tickets are $20 each. After you get scared to death, head to the open fire for smores, deep-fried Twinkies and Oreos.

Markoff’s Haunted Forest

At Markoff’s Haunted Forest, you pick your path of terror. Deep in the woods lies two trails with terrifying creatures lurking in the shadows. Trail 1 even takes you underground, while Trail 2 has scary scenes much closer together, giving you a fright every way you turn. A pass for the two trails is $30 in advance, $40 the day of.

#FrayLifeTip: If you’re not a fan of long waits, feel free to purchase the fast pass. With a fast pass, you can enter one of the trails without waiting for your number to be called!

Fields of Fear

15621 Braddock Rd. Centreville, VA 20120

Out in “The Forest: Back 40,” at Cox Farms, things that are in your worst nightmares come to life. More than a half mile walk (or sprint for the scared ones), chainsaws, spiders, and the occult are just a taste of what you will encounter. Purchasing a fear basic ticket for $15 gains you access to the Firegrounds, and one Dark Side Hayride, while a fear deluxe ticket for $15-35 depending on the date, includes everything in the basic ticket plus entry into Cornightmare, and The Forest: Back 40.

#FrayLifeTip: Fields of Fear has an extensive food menu perfect for chilly fall nights with items like kettle corn, hot spiced cider, nachos, and hot dogs on it. See the full menu here.

Shocktober

Shocktober is a month log frightful event in Leesburg, VA at Paxton Manor. The “Trail of Terror” is a bit different from other Halloween themed trails.
