Blondes vs Brunettes: The Rivalry Flag Football Game For an Amazing Cause You Don’t Want to Miss

Who has more fun? Blondes or Brunettes? That rivalry will be put to the test…on the football field. This fall, two teams of women, divided to reflect the age-old rivalry of Blondes/ Brunettes, will take the field to raise money, awareness, and create action for Alzheimer’s research.

Alzheimer’s Association’s  RivALZ (originally started as Blondes vs. Brunettes®) is a flag football game held nationwide in over 50 cities. Washington, DC is recognized as the founding chapter for the BvB event (talk about being an OG!). Since their establishment in 2005, the National Capital Area Chapter of BvB has raised over $1 million. Both teams are tackling the fight to end Alzheimer’s together.

DC FRAY reppin’ too!… I spy a DC Fray shirt! A few of our DC Fray friends are players/ coaches for BvB.

But wait, what if you’re reading this and thinking, “I don’t have blonde or brunette hair so that means I can’t play”? Actual hair color doesn’t matter!  Blondes, brunettes, redheads, and any other hair color are welcome to choose their team. Both teams consist of female players/male (and now female!) coaches. Team members fundraise their way to be eligible to play on game day. They also partake in a service day for ALZ. By participating in RivALZ players, coaches, and superfans will increase their network and enhance their athletic skills– all while raising money for Alzheimer’s Association National Capital Area Chapter

Funds raised from the RivALZ event will assist families with education/support resources regarding Alzheimer’s and further spearhead pivotal research studies into methods for treatment and prevention leading to finding a cure. RivALZ also provides a policy platform to be able to advocate for the needs and rights for those facing the disease.

Ready to see some trick plays and end zone celebrations? (Think Baker Mayfield, 2 point- conversion catches and  Minnesota Vikings’ Duck Duck Goose routine celebrations here!) Team Blonde and Team Brunette have been practicing weekly to put it all out on the field on game day. You won’t want to miss it.
